We are going to the wonderful Cayman Brac Beach Resort in the Cayman Islands September 26 – October 3, 2026 diving with Reef Divers who is renowned for offering personalized valet diving!
Diving on Cayman Brac is mostly current-free, which is optimal for divers who want to move at their own pace. Underwater photographers love Cayman Brac as they can spend an entire dive in one location, searching for macro critters and waiting for the perfect shot. If you look closely and move slowly, you will see a lot of the small macro stuff like Banded Cleaner Shrimp, Peterson Cleaner Shrimp, nudibranchs, many types of worms, and little secretary blennies. Parrotfish, Angelfish, Squirrelfish, Hogfish, Barracuda, Butterflyfish, Trumpetfish, Pufferfish, Snappers, Green Moray Eels, Spotted Moray Eels, lobster, and crabs are all plentiful on many of the dives. On the larger side Green Turtles, Hawksbill Turtles, Southern Stingrays, Eagle Rays, large black & Nassau groupers, nurse sharks, and reef sharks are also common.
Cayman Brac is one of three Cayman Islands and a Sister Island to Grand Cayman and smaller, nearby neighbor, Little Cayman. The island is roughly 14 square miles (approximately 12 miles long and 1.2 miles wide). It was named for the 140-foot bluff (called a “brac”) at the western tip. It stands out as the rugged and adventurous island among the three Cayman Islands offering a habitat for around 200 bird species amidst the rugged terrain, hidden caves and trails await exploration, providing a thrilling experience for visitors.
It is a birders paradise with migrating sea birds making a pit stop to the island in search of fresh water. Catch a glimpse of majestic frigate birds, brown-footed boobies, rare Cayman Brac Parrott, and the West Indian Whistling Duck. Several designated trails lead through wetlands and forests, across the Bluff, and past historical sites such as the Lighthouse.
There is very limited snorkeling from the beach or dock at the resort. Snorkelers can go out on the dive boats ($35 in the morning and $25 in the afternoon) based on space availability and the anticipated dive locations. The resort does not offer snorkel excursions, although you can get a bicycle or rent a car to drive to some great snorkel locations around the island.
