Ski to Defeat ALS

The Ski to Defeat ALS event is held each year at Mt. Hood Meadows. Since its inaugural event in 2012, Ski to Defeat ALS has raised over $1,048,000 for The ALS Association Oregon and SW Washington Chapter. This local chapter is a hub for resources, services and education for people living with ALS, their families, friends, caregivers, and health care professionals in all of Oregon and the six counties of SW Washington. Responding to each person’s individual needs, the local chapter is available to provide vital services and reliable information. A sampling of local care services provided to people and families living with ALS includes one-on-one consultations to assess the needs of those living with ALS, a Medical Equipment Loan Program, an Alternative Communication and Assistive Technology Program, Caregiver Support Program, support and resources for children, Monthly Support Group Program, partnerships in ALS multidisciplinary clinics, outreach to the local medical community with updates on current ALS needs and solutions, bereavement support and most importantly, funding for nationally-directed public policy and research programs.
