Steiner Cabins Celebration at Mt. Hood Cultural Center & Museum

  • Mt. Hood Cultural Center and Museum 88900 E Hwy 26, Business Loop Government Camp, OR 97028 (map)

The Mt. Hood Cultural Center & Museum will host a special Steiner Cabins Celebration Open House on Saturday, October 18, from 1:00 to 3:30 pm. A featured presentation by filmmaker and Steiner Cabin owner Ian McCluskey will begin at 2:00 pm.

The event celebrates the artistry and cultural legacy of master craftsman Henry Steiner, whose hand-built cabins remain beloved icons of the Mt. Hood area. McCluskey, a Steiner Society member and storyteller, will present the history and significance of these rustic structures and share a preview of an upcoming coffee table book, Steiner Cabins: History and Style of a Mt. Hood Icon.

The open house will also include a fundraising raffle to support publication of the book. Prizes include:

  • Two overnight stays at authentic Steiner Cabins

  • A private tour of the Fogelbo Steiner Log Home with lunch for six at Nordic Northwest / Broder Soder in Portland

  • Watercolor prints by local artist Steve Ludemann

  • A certificate for the Steiner Cabins book (upon publication)

  • Additional items donated by supporters

Raffle tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at the museum bookstore (in person or online) and during the event. Winners do not need to be present.
