Another event at the Mt. Hood Museum will be held Saturday, February 17, starting at 6:30 pm. The guest speaker will be Lowell Skoog, the author of “Written in the Snows,“ the first definitive book on the origins and growth of skiing in Washington. He documents the development of skiing in Washington from the late 1800s to the present, covering the beginnings of ski resorts and competitions, and the importance of wild places in the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges. More information about Lowell Skoog is found in this article from the Seattle Times.
This calendar contains events of interest to skiers and snowboarders, some put on by NWSCC ski clubs, and some by other organizations or ski areas. Look in the Fall months for great ski swaps which benefit local high schools; or plan to attend one of the annual ski shows, another place to buy discounted equipment. [Note that ski club trips are listed separately under the Trips tab.]
