Registration is still open for the Oregon Cancer Ski Out, to be held March 8-9, 2020, at Mt. Hood Meadows. The Oregon Cancer Ski Out is a two-day event for skiers and snowboarders that combines fun (SERIOUS fun!), competition, and fundraising with a unique racing format designed to let even novice skiers or snowboarders participate in the fight against cancer. The race rewards consistency and teamwork rather than individual speed. Volunteer celebrity and professional coaching staff are on hand throughout the race, coordinating teams and assisting with professional advice and instructions. All meals are included, as well as a dinner, casino night and dance at the Best Western Plus Hood River Inn. This annual event raises money for LOCAL organizations Knight Cancer Institute, Candlelighters for Children with Cancer, Providence Hospice and Providence Hospice of the Gorge, Camp Erin, and Breast Friends. Sign up with a team of 5, or if you don't have a team, sign up anyway and a team will be found for you!
This calendar contains events of interest to skiers and snowboarders, some put on by NWSCC ski clubs, and some by other organizations or ski areas. Look in the Fall months for great ski swaps which benefit local high schools; or plan to attend one of the annual ski shows, another place to buy discounted equipment. [Note that ski club trips are listed separately under the Trips tab.]
