Bergfreunde (Mountain Friends) was founded in 1966 as a ski club. It has evolved to be one of the premier activity clubs in the area, offering year-round recreational sports, social activities, and travel adventures. We have about 420 members, who must be at least 21 years old to join. Annual dues are $60 renewal, $75 new. We offer adventure travel to suit the season: downhill or cross-country skiing and snowshoe in winter- bike, hike, and paddle in summer. We support a downhill racing team through PACRATs. Bergfreunde offers excellent cross-country ski workshops in January. We run a classy city tour annually between sports seasons. Monthly socials are held for event signups, presentations, and new member orientation.  The Socials usually convene on the first Wednesday of the month at 5:30 pm at various venues in the Portland area.
