Altair’s membership, about 200 for the past 20 years, is open to those interested in a wide variety of recreational activities. Started primarily as a ski club, Altair has expanded to include year-round outdoor and indoor activities, including skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, bowling, volleyball, golf and kayaking; as well as a wide variety of social events and out of town trips, including barbeques, card games, ballroom dance lessons, theater and dinner parties. Altair’s most popular events are multiple day trips to regions such as Bend and Mt. Bachelor, Crater Lake, Shelter Cove and Willamette Pass, Coos Bay Estuary camping, and the Newberry National Volcanic Monument Trip.  A monthly meeting for Altair members is held at the Veterans Club Ballroom on Willamette Street on the second Wednesday of each month. Annual dues are $75, or $70 for renewing members. A monthly newsletter is posted on their new website to keep members up to date on upcoming events.
