  • Mt. Hood Cultural Center & Museum 88900 Government Camp Loop Government Camp, OR, 97028 United States (map)

Come join the fun on Mt. Hood for “Ski the Glade” Day! It’s the only seasonal day when the 3-mile Glade Trail, from Timberline to Government Camp, is groomed by Timberline and monitored by the Mt. Hood Ski Patrol. Ski the Glade is an annual fundraiser, hosted by the Mt. Hood Cultural Center & Museum in Government Camp.

Individual tickets for the March 2, 2024, all-day event are $125. Your day will include a continental breakfast, shuttles to and from the trail starting at Timberline, day-long skiing, a hearty lunch, an apres-ski reception, and prizes. You’re encouraged to wear vintage clothing in the spirit of those who skied this trail years ago.

The tickets are limited, so get yours now! Call the museum: (503) 272-3301 for tickets and more information.

The Glade Trail was originally constructed in 1937 as part of the Timberline Lodge complex. It partially adopted the oldest ski trail on Mt. Hood, the Blossom Trail, predating commercial skiing. It’s believed to have supported skiing as early as 1888. The descent is a wide-cut, rolling trail. It has beautiful, open views and an easy gradient so it makes for a great ski/snowboard run for anyone seeking a long, mellow, ride. The Glade Trail also includes a respectable amount of vertical drop, 2,120 feet.

The Mt. Hood Museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich history of Mt. Hood through interpretive exhibits and educational programming. It features six galleries highlighting the history of the mountain’s early exploration, winter sports, settlement, and natural history.

In the center of Government Camp, the Cultural Center, Museum, Mt. Hood Information Center, and the Museum Gift Shop are open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Museum is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
