Desert Ski Club
P.O. Box 623, Richland, WA 99352
The Tri-Cities, in the southeastern Washington State desert, is home for the 150 member Desert Ski Club – a club for anyone over 21 who either likes to or wants to ski or snowboard. Dues are $35. Though a natural desert, the area is centrally located to more than a dozen very passable ski areas from central Oregon to the Idaho-Montana-Washington-Canadian border area, most easily accessible by auto or bus. In addition, the club visits prominent resorts in Montana, Utah, Colorado and California. Each year, we schedule ten to twelve trips, mostly weekend with several somewhat longer trips to more distant areas. During the summer, we while away those snow-free times camping, whitewater rafting, water skiing, touring our many wineries, and enjoying the wide selection of other regional Tri Cities activities the area offers. We usually hold meetings the first Thursday of every month throughout the year at the Richland Shilo, at 6:30 pm to socialize and signup for trips – 7:00 pm for business, although during the summer, meetings tend to become more informal. The monthly newsletter, “The Tumbleweed News,” in addition to club contacts, schedules, club business, and articles of general interest, offers promos for all upcoming trips and events as well as epilogues for events past. The web home page will link you to the latest issue.
