CLUB FACTS Ebony Rose Ski Club was founded by a group
of African American skiers who wanted to share their enthusiasm
for the sport with other ethnic minorities. Whether a skier or
snowboarder, beginner to expert, or even if you don’t ski, all
members of the general population are welcome.
ACTIVITIES
We have activities for singles or married couples, however
our emphasis is on our youth (the skiers of tomorrow), with
special programs, scholarships and subsidies designed to
motivate youngsters to learn and/or improve their skiing skills.
Off season activities include camping trips, tennis, rafting,
bowling and social events, and fundraising events.
AFFILIATIONS/GOALS
Ebony Rose Ski Club is also a member of the “The National
Brotherhood of Skiers,” consisting of 83 clubs with over 14,000
members nationally. The NBS supports African American athletes
in skiing and other Winter related activities. An objective
already accomplished is preparing African American skiers for
acceptance to the U.S. Olympic team; another objective is to
identify, develop and support African American athletes who will
win international and winter sports competitions representing
the United States.
MEETINGS
Dues are $40 annually. The club meets at 7:00 pm on the
second Wednesday of the month at the Montego Bay, SW 13th and
Jefferson, in Portland.
